Language Teaching in China

We strongly believe China is a vibrant and exciting place to travel and work. If you are an experienced language teacher we want to hear from you. If you are a foreign language teacher already in China, we want to hear from you. Most importantly, here at NCLR we want to hear from language teachers who can teach languages other than English. The majority of our positions are TEFL related, but China is a changing place and there is an increasing demand from schools in China for native speakers who are qualified to teach languages from around the world. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and most importantly – email or phone.

Be prepared

Coming to China is a big decision. Before accepting the job, getting on the plane and tucking into your first authentic Chinese meal, make sure you do your research. Talk to us, communicate with new colleagues over e-mail and find out as much information as possible.

Most importantly, make sure you are in good health and make sure its the right decision for you.

Think ahead

China has changed a lot, most Western perspectives of China are outdated and old fashioned. However, like many countries there will always be situations that you must overcome with a little common sense and forward planning. Language, for example. Most people who come to China don’t step off the plane and start speaking Chinese immediately. Think ahead, talk to colleagues and find a good school to help you with the basics.

Like many countries you will also encounter cultural differences on a daily basis (particulary outside major cities such as Beijing & Shanghai). If you think ahead and prepare yourself for these situations you will have a wonderful, exciting experience working and traveling in China.
